Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight areas.
If you're looking for an easy ride in your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are susceptible to punctures, so be prepared with an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, that emblem of the noughties, which had more money than common sense, are in rapid decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers that can be more versatile in terrain, yet still look stylish and easy to push.
The bigger the wheels are the better your buggy can deal with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear, make it easier to move and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found that it coped well with cobbles, grass rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said that "it is solid to push and is very stable when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) come with suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.
Another thing to take into consideration is the size and shape. You want the seat to be large enough to allow your child to be comfortable and allow them to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies have the option of reclining completely, while others allow an adult facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This buggy is ideal for a single child starting from birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers up to age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness and a spacious cushioned seat. The storage options are great too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - perfect for off-road buggies. They also help you move the pushchair around tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that help you navigate around corners with ease, whereas others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with which they can be pushed. This is especially useful when you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to keep it from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres. This means they can handle different terrains and are much more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They are also lighter. They are prone to punctures, and you'll require repair kits and an spare inner tube in your arsenal.
Some of our favourite 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and can easily go up and down kerbs. The buggies also come with a suspension that Kath says "smooths out bumps extremely effectively".
Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite wide and can be difficult to fit in tight spaces. This is an issue when you're using it for an exercise bike or to be able to get through narrow doorways when out and about. Luckily, most models have small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
One of the main benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much more maneuverable especially with a child in the back. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels spin at a whim and are extremely easy to maneuver which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried an all-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: "The Terrain is a delight to navigate on uneven terrain. The front swivel wheel was particularly helpful." I was also impressed with how well it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground."
The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you need to keep in mind if your home area is an urban area. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeler might be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars can shield your child from bumps and scrapes when they are out and out and about. These bumper bars are easy to put in place and will allow your child to feel secure and safe out and about.
Created to match the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features an upholstered and soft surface that offers a comfortable spot for your child to hold to while walking. The durable construction and sturdy design ensures that your child can enjoy a stroll without having to worry about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.
The fabric sling sits snugly inside the frame and not on top of the modular seat. This provides a lower centre of gravity for your infant at the perfect height and also provides an excellent weight distribution, making it easier to push over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's great on grass and cobbles. It's also a good option for running thanks to its air-filled tyres and lockable swivel wheel.
With a sophisticated and stylish design, this bumper bar is sure to draw attention wherever you go. Available in a range of finishes and colors that can be customized to fit your style. It features a simple, quick-release mechanism that makes it simple to install and remove the bumper bar whenever needed. Furthermore the bar is easy to clean and is constructed of durable materials that are simple to wipe down. This makes it an excellent option for families seeking a stylish and secure stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3 wheeled buggy-wheel buggy offers the best in agility and performance when driving off road. This kind of buggy is simple to steer and can turn in a flash thanks to its perfect geometry, engineering, and weight distribution.
The Sport's clever design places the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, instead of on top like modular seats. This allows it to have lower center of gravity and makes it easier to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you will not need to exert the same effort to raise the buggy's front end over a curb), and offers more stability and balance. With the massive rear wheels measuring 16 inches and lockable swivel front wheels and tyres with air that require only occasional pumping to give you an unhurried ride on rough terrain, and a smoother more comfortable jog too.
The only stroller in our collection that has a parent-facing seat which can also accommodate an infant car seat or carrycot, you are able to ensure your family's future is secure and enjoy every adventure starting from the first day and for years to be!
