Light Roast Arabica Coffee Beans

Light roast arabica coffee beans are the (relatively) new kid on the block. Light roasts are an artisanal blend of roasting, multi-origin blends, and mixing.

The process of roasting eliminates some of the natural sugars found in the coffee bean, it also produces new sugars. This is the reason why light roasts are more sweet than dark roasts.

Light Roast

A light roast is coffee that has been lightly roasted to preserve the natural flavor of beans. The name suggests that these types of coffees tend to be lighter in body than dark roasts, and can be enjoyed with a variety methods of brewing like drip french press, drip over, and espresso. Light roasts typically have fruitier and brighter flavor notes and can highlight the characteristics of the coffee's origin more than darker roasts.

This is particularly true when working with micro lot or single-estate coffees. In addition, this roast level can help bring out subtle, nuanced flavor profiles that are often missing in dark roasts. No matter what your preference is the roast levels all produce exceptional and delicious coffees.

Light roasts are also known for their refreshing acidity and smooth body. They are able to provide you with a boost of energy, without the sluggish feeling that comes with dark roasts. These coffees are great for those who want to start the day with a bit of energy and a fresh taste.

When it comes to caffeine, there is a bit of truth to the belief that a light roast has more caffeine than a dark roast. However this could be confusing because it depends on how you weigh your coffee. If you weigh your coffee, a scoop that contains a lighter roast will contain more caffeine than one containing a darker roast (because of its larger mass). However, if you're measuring by volume, both will have roughly the same amount of caffeine.

The process of roasting is the primary ingredient in the perfect light roast. It is crucial to select a roaster that you can trust. Poorly executed light roasts might be bitter or have a burnt flavor that can overwhelm other desirable qualities in the coffee. This is why we prefer to work with small batch arabica coffee beans and family-owned roasters that value quality.

Our Extra Mile Kenyan is a excellent example of a well-crafted light roast. It offers sweet flavors of stonefruit and baker's chocolate with a smooth mouthfeel. It is also made from a sustainable arabica coffee beans, ethical farm that uses regenerative farming.

Medium Roast

Often referred to as the Goldilocks roast, medium roast is the "just right" coffee that falls between light dark roast arabica coffee beans and dark roast. Featuring the familiar, traditional diner-style notes of dark roast, but with extra balance and subtlety, medium roasts offer an array of intriguing flavors and aromas.

Medium roast arabica coffee beans are heated for a shorter amount of time and at a lower temperature than dark roasts. The beans are heated to around 385 degrees, and they begin to pop. (This is known as the first crack). The beans will appear light brown color and will not have any oil on the surface.

The coffee that is roasted to this degree retains many of the original coffee bean's distinctive aroma and flavor notes. This includes fruity and floral aromas and flavors that are native to the origin region. Lightly roasted beans also have brighter acidity and a mellow body.

Depending on the beans used, medium roasts can be flavored with flavors like chocolate, caramel and even hints of spice. However, it's important to remember that these flavors are more muted than in a light roast because the beans have been cooked for a longer time.

Medium-dark flavors can be heavy and bitter which makes it unpalatable to some palates. Dark roasted coffee is characterized by its deep oily appearance, and the flavors of bittersweet chocolate, dark caramel and smoke.

If you're seeking a smooth, balanced cup of coffee that's less than dark but not as delicate as a light roast, our medium roast arabica coffee is the perfect choice. Our Happy Place blend is made using single-origin beans sourced from farms at high elevations that are Rainforest Alliance certified and practice fully regenerative agriculture. It has flavors of blackberry, guava, and cocoa, with a soft ending.

Regardless of the roast level, all kinds of coffee have similar amounts of caffeine. This is due to the caffeine content of beans is dependent on their natural levels and the amount of oxygen the beans absorb as they are roast.

Dark Roast

Dark roast coffee is a variety that has been roasted longer than light roast beans. This lets a more intricate flavor profile to develop. This creates a cup with an intense, bold flavor, and less acidity as compared to a light-roasted coffee. This type of coffee is perfect for those who prefer a strong coffee to kick off their day.

Dark roasted coffee has a distinctive brown color and an oily surface, giving its distinctive rich and classic diner taste. It is distinguished by the roasting method. It is crucial to select a high-quality coffee that has been properly roasted to get the full flavor.

It is important to roast a dark roasted coffee until the beans begin cracking. This indicates that the beans have been correctly roasted and are ready to be made. Dark roasted coffee needs to be able to produce a balanced flavor and mouthfeel.

The trick to finding the right dark roasted coffee is selecting beans of high-quality that have been roast at the right temperature. This will let you enjoy the exotic and unique qualities of the beans without being overpowered by an over-roasted taste.

In addition to the roasting level It is also essential to consider the source of the beans as well as where they were grown in order to select the most desirable dark roasted coffee. For instance, certain regions have a certain sweetness that is best suited for coffee that is dark roasted and other regions have an incredibly complex and rich flavor that can withstand the intensity of a dark roasted bean.

When choosing a dark roast, you should also keep in mind that the higher the roast level the higher the amount of caffeine will be present in your coffee. This is because the roasted beans are exposed to a greater amount of heat which results in more caffeine to be released. In addition, the darker a roast, the more pronounced the bitterness will be.

Washed Coffee

Washed coffee beans are the result of a process referred to as "wet processing". After removing the cherries, they are pulverized in tanks, and then fermented to melt any sticky mucilage that is encases them. This is followed by a rinse to remove the remaining pectin, drying. This is a very popular method among specialty roasters and is a great choice for anyone seeking clean, crisp and acidic flavor profiles that have medium amounts of body and sweetness.

Different flavor compounds are produced according to the duration of the fermentation and the amount of mucilage that is left on the seeds. These can have floral, earthy, fruity or even nutty notes. This is what allows washed coffees to express a lot of terroir and distinctive varietal characteristics. Natural processed coffees can produce distinct flavors because of the fruity pulp surrounding the bean.

After the mucilage is removed, the beans are dried by soaking in large tanks of water (as in the washed method) or spread out on raised beds or patios in the sun and rotated regularly. This is done until the seeds have a moisture content of between 10-12 percent.

The final step is roasting. When the roasting process begins the temperature inside the bean will increase and a cracking sound can be heard. This is the moment when vapors begin to penetrate the outer wall of the bean. This is known as the first crack.

Once this occurs when this happens, the beans are ready for consumption. Light roasts taste fresh and fruity, as they haven't roasted enough time to create the oils. Medium roasts are more bready and have a richer and deeper flavor, since they've been cooked for longer. Roasts that are darker may have a smoky or chocolaty flavor, based on the roasting level.

This makes for a variety of flavors and aromas. It is up to you to decide which coffee is best for you! Try a variety single-origin roasts, such as medium, light and darker roasts. Each one is distinct in its own way.nescafe-brasile-coffee-beans-100-arabica
