
Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their car, start the motor, and even locate it using a smartphone application.

Unlocking the Doors
Volvo's remote keys can unlock the tailgate, doors, and the flap that holds the fuel filler of your car with the touch of a button. They also can switch on the ignition, turn off the alarm, and operate your sunroof when it's installed. You'll never again have to search for your keys or lose access to your vehicle.
If you're a new Volvo model that we have in our dealership, then you may not be aware of its key fob's hidden features. One of these features is an unlocked and lock button that you can press in case the battery on your key fob goes out.
To press the manual lock/unlock switch, hold your key fob with the Volvo logo side up. Find the black button close to the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover which protects the key blade that is manual. The cover can be turned clockwise using a flathead, or coin.
Beginning the Engine
Modern Volvo key fobs offer a level convenience and functionality that is unrivalled by manual keys. However, just like any battery-powered electronic device key fobs can lose its charge or stop working over time. If you notice that your key fob has become less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it might be time to replace volvo key fob the battery.
If your vehicle is equipped with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also make use of the key fob in order to activate this feature. The car will heat or cool at the same temperature it was set to when it was parked and it can run for up to 15 minutes.
Use a fingernail to remove the cover from the back of the key fob. The button should be underneath the cover on an angle near the body's edge. Slide it downwards and to the right. The cover will come loose, and then slide off, revealing the manual blade! If you still can't locate the button, you can search the newly exposed manual key access to find whether there is a hidden slot or lever.
Closing the Windows
One of the hidden features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that you are able to roll down all of the windows instantly using the fobs. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into a tight parking spot, or even just to get fresh air in your cabin while driving.
Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, should you have one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.
You can also activate the panic alarm in your car with the key fob. This will make the alarm sound loud enough to draw attention and deter thieves. It can also help you return to your home in a safe manner even if you've been out for the night. This feature can be very useful for those who live in a hazardous area or want to secure your family members when they are away.
Opening the Tailgate
The key fob of Volvo is loaded with many useful features. They are perfect when you're swamped with shopping or helping your kids take their sports gear home after a session.
For example, if you have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped) it is possible to open it using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it using the same button.
Use the key fob when you are ready to start your vehicle. (Don't be worried if your battery goes out or if your car won't start since it also has a mechanical key slot). This is just one of the many useful tricks for your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs are much more practical than a mechanical car key. But, they're not working completely for a long time, and the batteries can eventually die. If you're in a hurry, or don't want to visit a shop to have your key fob reprogrammed, you can attempt to get it to work at home.
Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery and extra keys. Find the small black button located at the bottom left corner on the key fob and move it to the right. The cover should fall off and expose the key blade's mechanical mechanism beneath.
You can open all the doors and the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's key twice. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you can close the windows and sunroof if they are equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, the owner's instructions should include a reset option.
